Koala Sanehorse Shoes

Dark Brown
Simple and uncomplicated, these comfortable lace-up mocs feature clean and simple lines that transcend fashion trends. Hand-sewn with the finest craftsmanship and inspired from the Native American shoe design and construction techniques, they reflect that laid-back attitude that’s made it to the pop music scenes in the 90s. Made of casual looking and resistant pull-up leather, which was sanded and well greased to allow it to later acquire a unique beautiful vintage patina when the shoes are worn, they feature tubular construction, moc toe cut, leather lining and a 2-layered Para rubber sole for high elasticity and resistance to abrasion, water and acids. Named after the adorable creatures who hug eucalyptuses to keep body temperature even, your “Koala” moc will embrace your feet to keep them always comfortable.

Daniel J. Wellehan, owner of five shoe shops in the area, decided to open his own factory in 1946. He became partners with two local shoe manufacturers – William Beaudoin and Joseph Cordeau – and Sebago-Moc was born. The name was inspired by nearby lake Sebago, that in the native Abenaki language means “long-shaped water basin”. Its first mocassin, the renowned “penny loafer”, was created in the same year, handsewn as by native tradition, still one of the brand’s best-sellers. In 1981 the Campsides® outdoor line was launched. In 1984 Sebago® was the first American company to sponsor a boat in the O-Star Race. More important sponsorship deals in the world of sailing followed including the Celebrity Regatta, the Liberty Cup, the Americas Cup and the Young America team in the Louis Vuitton Cup 96/97.
